what to expect.jpg

What to Expect

At the onset, most people come to counseling sessions once a week for 60-minute sessions and continue weekly until stress levels are reduced considerably. Thereafter, we will discuss the frequency of visits. The initial visit will be spent discussing the reason for seeking Christian counseling and getting acquainted with one another. We will also discuss any questions or reservations you may have about the process. Your comfort level is a very important aspect of your experience. It is important that you feel safe and know that you are in a place of healing. In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life and your personal history relevant to your issue.

Temperament-Based Pathways

Every individual is uniquely designed by God, and temperament plays a significant role in how a person experiences relationships, stress, decision-making, and spiritual growth. Clinical Pastoral Counseling at Cre8vLife Global recognizes these differences and provides distinct pathways that honor each temperament’s strengths, needs, and vulnerabilities.

Soon you'll be able to select your primary temperament (online) to explore a dedicated pathway that includes common stress patterns, pastoral focus areas, and recommended codices aligned with Inclusion, Control, and Affection needs. Each pathway leads to a dynamic temperament page offering guidance, discipleship resources, and next steps for ongoing formation.

Each temperament pathway is designed to help you understand your God-given design and engage the counseling and discipleship resources most suited to your journey toward wholeness and maturity.

Codex Pathways

In Development - The Codex Vault will be a curated collection of discipleship guides designed to support growth beyond the counseling session. Codices function as post-session formation tools, helping clients continue reflecting, practicing, and integrating what has been discussed in pastoral counseling. They are intentionally structured to be used alongside—not instead of—guided care.

Each codex focuses on a specific area of formation such as identity, emotional healing, relationships, boundaries, leadership, or spiritual maturity. Recommendations are often made based on temperament insight and current focus areas related to Inclusion, Control, or Affection. This allows clients to engage with material that aligns with both their God-designed temperament and the season they are navigating.

Codices are paced, Scripture-centered, and practical. They provide space for thoughtful engagement without pressure, offering prompts, reflection points, and guided practices that support steady growth over time. Some clients work through a single codex during a focused season, while others return to the Codex Vault periodically as new needs or questions arise.

FAQ

Do you diagnose mental health conditions?

No. Clinical Pastoral Counseling at Cre8vLife Global does not involve diagnosis of mental health disorders or medical conditions. Care is pastoral, Scripture-centered, and focused on spiritual, emotional, and relational guidance within a non-clinical framework.

Is this therapy or psychotherapy?

No. This is not clinical therapy or psychotherapy. Sessions are pastoral in nature and do not replace licensed mental health treatment. When clinical care is needed, appropriate referrals are made.

What is the difference between pastoral counseling and therapy?

Pastoral counseling focuses on spiritual discernment, heart renewal, identity, and life alignment through Scripture, prayer, and guided conversation. Therapy focuses on clinical assessment and treatment of psychological conditions. The two are distinct, though complementary.

Can I use APS if I already have my results?

Yes. If you have already completed the Arno Profile System, those results can be used as the starting point for interpretation and counseling sessions. A review may be conducted to ensure clarity and accuracy.

Do I have to complete APS to receive pastoral counseling?

Not always. APS is a valuable interpretive tool, but it is not required in every case. Its use is determined based on goals, context, and discernment during the consultation process.

How is temperament used in sessions?

Temperament insight helps clarify patterns related to relationships, stress, communication, and emotional needs. It informs pastoral guidance but is not used to label, limit, or define spiritual maturity.

What happens if I need clinical or medical support?

If concerns arise that fall outside the scope of pastoral counseling—such as severe mental health symptoms or safety issues—referrals to appropriate licensed professionals are provided.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Counseling conversations are treated with discretion and confidentiality, consistent with pastoral ethics and professional responsibility, except in situations where safety concerns require referral or intervention.
